"Luxury raw materials are combined in perfect harmony: exposed stone, steel, wood and large windows, which bathe the room in natural light, create an inviting feel in Aux Terrasses' gourmet restaurant.
Amandine Carrette designed this space, creating rooms with a simple, natural style which goes back to basics: sleek, on-trend furniture and wooden tables without tablecloths to showcase the designer pieces of local ceramic artists.
The carefully considered decor creates a simple, elegant peaceful setting in which to sample Jean-Michel's bold cuisine.


Le chef Jean-Michel Carrette, Étoilé et inspiré
He grew up in the kitchens of this restaurant, then owned by his father, before working at various renowned restaurants: Aux Terrasses has long been Jean-Michel Carrette's home.
At the helm of this restaurant in the centre of Tournus, his father was awarded a Michelin star in 1999. Passionate about cooking from an early age, Jean-Michel trained at the catering college in Poligny in the Jura, then learned his trade in some of France's most distinguished restaurants, including La Tour Rose in Lyon and La Maison Troisgros in Roanne.
After the death of his father, Jean-Michel took over the family property in January 2005, retaining its Michelin star while making his mark at Aux Terrasses: with his personality and creativity, he has developed an instinctive cuisine of his own, all while paying tribute to local dishes, passed down from father to son, which he creates using the very best ingredients.

The secrets to a dish? Its ingredients: chosen with care, based on seasonal availability.
To be able to access the very best ingredients, Jean-Michel Carrette has developed close working relationships with local suppliers. These products inspire him to express his creativity and he often uses a single ingredient to produce a combination of different creations.
Although the menu changes, sometimes every day, the basics are unchanging: flavours and contrasting textures are cleverly combined and each ingredient is perfectly cooked. The Chef has an original approach, showcasing local products and modern flavours.
This "artisan chef" works alongside Pascal and Victor, who have worked in the kitchens since his father Michel's time, and Anthony and Anne-Laure. The menu includes an intriguing mix of traditional dishes and Jean-Michel's innovative creations.

The restaurant is closed on Sundays and Mondays, as well as Thursday lunchtimes.
